Manchester United and Man City set to earn even more in Premier League season

Manchester United and Man City are set to earn even MORE money from televised games in the Premier League in the 2019/20 season.

Last season, each TV fixture was worth around £1.15million to Premier League clubs.

Leaders Liverpool, with 29 appearances, earned around £33.5million - more than champions City, who earned £30.1million from their 26 TV games.

Given their ongoing clout in the Premier League, Manchester United also earned more than their Manchester rivals – with £31.2million from 27 live fixtures.

This was vastly more than the team that finished just a place below them – newly-promoted Wolves – who were on TV just 15 times, earning £17.8million in the process.

Bottom of the pile, unsurprisingly, were Huddersfield Town - in more senses than one.

They earned just £12.2million from their 10 appearances across Sky and BT.

However, under the Premier League's latest three-year broadcasting agreement, clubs can expect to earn even MORE from being on TV this season.

The new deal running until the 2021/22 deal will see Sky, BT and newcomer Amazon broadcasting Premier League games.

All ten matches from this season's Boxing Day round of fixtures will be shown live on Amazon Prime as the online retailer enters the Premier League TV marketplace.

With 112 live games on offer this year, Sky Sports maintain the bulk of Premier League fixtures.
