Manchester City will win the Premier League this season, that’s according to the latest prediction from Sporting Index.
The English top flight already looks set to be it’s most competitive for a generation, with a handful of teams believing they can win the title.
Both City and Manchester United will be in that group that have realistic aspirations of lifting the trophy in May, with the halfway point of the season not too far away.
The two local rivals have already gone into battle against each other twice over the past few weeks in two different competitions, with the league game at Old Trafford last month ending in a goalless draw.
United are currently top of the table with 37 points, but City are just two points adrift with a game in hand and are on a run of five league wins in a row.
With the knowledge of this season’s champions far from decided, betting and sports data firm Sporting Index have predicted the outcome of the Premier League, as well as the total points for each team.
Based on their prediction, City will win the league with 84 points and eight ahead of last season’s champions Liverpool, who are tipped to finish runners up.
United, though, will finish behind both City and Liverpool in third place, with a final points tally of 74 points, according to the prediction.
Tottenham Hotspur is the other club predicted to make up the final Champions League spot, while Fulham, West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United are the three clubs tipped to be relegated to the Championship.
