Alan Shearer has told Manchester United they should complete a deal for Tottenham striker Harry Kane in the summer transfer window.
United have been active in the past 12 months focusing on bolstering their ranks with British players, landing Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James last summer.
In January, Bruno Fernandes was drafted in from Sporting Lisbon and Shearer now believes the focus should turn towards signing English players.
Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho are both heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford and Shearer believes Kane, who could cost in the region of £200m, should also be targeted.
"Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was spot on when he said there could be a number of clubs forced into selling their big players for financial reasons," Shearer told The Sun. "Whereas the majority will look to survive first before looking at transfer targets, Manchester United are in a different boat.
"And with their financial clout, they are in a good position to take advantage in future transfer markets once football is eventually back. To get anywhere near where they want to be then they need three, possibly four, big signings.
"I understand the talk of Jadon Sancho, I understand the talk of Harry Kane and I certainly understand the talk of Jack Grealish.
"Those three are exactly the types they need if they are to compete at the top again."
For Man United to target Kane this summer would be somewhat of a u-turn as Sky Sports revealed over the weekend that the England international was not on Ed Woodward's wishlist.
