Manchester United ambassador Park Ji-Sung gives January transfer hint

Manchester United ambassador Park Ji-Sung believes the club will make January signings but played down their impact on the club's progress in the Europa League this season.

United are keen to strengthen in the upcoming January window, particularly in forward positions with Norwegian striker Erling Haaland one of their top targets.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under pressure to ensure United qualify for next season's Champions League — either by finishing in the Premier League top four or by winning the Europa League.

And after United were drawn against Club Brugge in the last 32 of that competition, club ambassador and former player Park gave an update on the January transfer search.

Asked by BT Sport whether United are focussing on the league or European competition, he said: "Still we have both possibilities, so we don't want to just focus on one competition. We have to follow both these two tracks as far as we can.

"It depends on the January transfers, it depends on what the manager wants and what the club can produce. There will be signings, but it doesn't matter how many we get, more important is how the team can progress."

Park then reacted to the draw, which sees United face Belgian outfit Brugge after qualifying through their group as winners.

"There's not an easy team at this stage [of the competition] so we'll have to prepare well," he added.

"These days, the team is doing so well, so hopefully we can get a good result.

"A couple of years ago we won the trophy and we know how beneficial it is, direct qualification to the Champions League.

"And this competition is not an easy competition and particularly young players can get experience going through.
