Manchester United agree loan transfer for Facundo Pellistri

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Deportivo Alaves over a six-month loan deal for Facundo Pellistri.

The 19-year-old arrived from Penarol in the summer but is yet to make his first-team debut under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

MEN Sport reported United were exploring loan options for the winger who has been restricted to U23 action despite training with the first-team squad.

A deal has been agreed in principle with Alaves with Pellistri expected to fly to Spain over the weekend to finalise the move.

Alaves are currently 18th in La Liga after 20 games played.

Club Brugge were interested in signing the youngster but Alaves have won the race for his signature. As Spanish is Pellistri's first language, La Liga represented an ideal option for United.

Pellistri netted twice in six games in Premier League 2 but hasn't featured since December 18 for the development side. COVID-19 protocols mean he had to travel and change separately from his teammates as he was part of the first-team bubble.

Alaves face Getafe away from home on January 31 with Pellistri's debut likely to come against Real Vallodolid on February 5 or Barcelona on February 13.
