Manchester United striker Lauren James is on her way to Chelsea after the two clubs agreed a record fee for a Women's Super League transfer.
James, 19, has already undergone a medical with the Champions League finalists and is currently discussing personal terms after making clear her desire to move back to London and be closer to her family - including brother Reece who plays for the men's team.
The forward joined United from the Arsenal academy as a 16-year-old in 2018, becoming the second youngest player in Manchester United women 's team history when she made her debut against Liverpool.
Her impact on the side was immediate, scoring 14 goals in her first season as United claimed promotion to the Women's Super League for the first time. She also scored the club's first ever goal in the top-flight with the opening strike in a 2-0 win over Liverpool in 2019.
She was a key part of United's success up to now, helped them to a fourth-place finish last season, ten points behind eventual champions Chelsea.
Blues manager Emma Hayes was keen to add the pace, youth and quality of James to her squad, but she isn't first person to leave the club this summer after Casey Stoney stepped down as manager at the end of last season after three years in charge.
James has represented England at youth level, playing for the U17's and U19's in the past, and was also part of the senior side's training camp in November 2020.
