Manchester United agree fee for Jadon Sancho and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have moved a step closer to signing Jadon Sancho after agreeing an initial fee with Borussia Dortmund, according to reports.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified the 20-year-old as the ideal transfer target this summer on the back of a superb season in the Bundesliga. MEN Sport understand United's transfer plans will accelerate in the coming weeks after securing their place in next season's Champions League following a win against Leicester on the final day of the season.

Sancho has a preference to return to Manchester and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola ruled out a return to the Etihad Stadium for the England international. Reports in Germany suggest the youngster would be open to a move to Liverpool but Jurgen Klopp has also distanced the Merseyside club from the speculation.

The Independent claim that Sancho is now edging closer to a switch to Old Trafford after United and Dortmund agreed on an initial fee for the winger. It is believed the German side will accept an initial £60million but the deal is expected to reach the £100m mark.

Furthermore, the report claims talks are still ongoing on how to structure the instalments. Dortmund are now pushing for the deal to be completed as they have planned for Sancho's departure and want their squad finalised before they return to training on August 10.

Elsewhere, United have been linked with a move for Villarreal defender Pau Torres.

Torres has been one of the most impressive defenders in La Liga this season and is on Manchester City's summer shortlist, though an impending move for Nathan Ake could see them drop their interest.

Mundo Deportivo claim the 23-year-old is a target for both United and Barcelona but Villarreal are unwilling to budge on their €65m valuation.

The report claims United are not put off by the price tag and will actively pursue his signature.

MEN Sport understand defence is not a priority for United in the upcoming window as Solskjaer is happy with his options at the back.
