Manchester United advertise job for Chinese media producer

Manchester United are looking to hire a Chinese social media expert to help them produce content for the growing supporter market in China.

The club is advertising a role called 'China Content Producer' who will aid the club's attempts to satisfying the large number of fans United have in the Far East. The position is for a linguist fluent in both Chinese and English and is based in Manchester.

United already put huge efforts in their media production, with MUTV, the club's website and growing app.

The job advert on LinkedIn reads: "Each week we will be putting together a series of original shows and videos revolving around the football club, created with our valued Chinese audience in mind. From interviewing players, to finding out about the match-day experience of the average Chinese fan - we cover everything and anything to do with the football club.

"The candidate will offer another voice to the videos we're pulling together. You don't need to be a football expert - we're looking for someone who is great on camera and looking to learn more about the game."

It finishes by listing the core responsibilities, which are presenting in front of camera, social media and content production.

On the latest United conference call to investors, group managing director Richard Arnold again spoke about the growing market in China and mentioned plans to expand the club's digital business ventures, including the official app.

Arnold also spoke of new worldwide partnerships and fan events in America and China.

And it seems the job is designed to satisfy that desire from United to reach out to its Chinese fan base.
