Manchester United have added teenage goalkeeper Ondrej Mastny to their Champions League B list ahead of their group stage opener with Paris Saint-Germain.
Czech Republic youth international Mastny, 18, has been installed as the goalkeeper for the Under-23s this season but could also be involved with United's Champions League preparations to offset the absence of Sergio Romero.
Clubs are free to add a player to their 'B list' no later than 24 hours before a European tie if he is born on, or after, January 1 1999 and has been eligible to play for their parent club for an uninterrupted period of two years since their 15th birthday.
United have also added Brandon Williams, Teden Mengi and Mason Greenwood to their B list, although Greenwood is understood not to have travelled to Paris after missing the weekend win over Newcastle.
Romero, excluded from United's European squad, has not returned to United since pre-season training started last month and is angry that a transfer did not materialise before the international deadline on October 5.
Mastny travelled with the United squad to Wolves for their FA Cup third round draw in January due to the absence of David de Gea and participated in the goalkeepers’ warm-up. Mastny was also involved in the build-up for the 4-0 home trouncing of Norwich City a week later when Romero was unavailable through injury.
United signed Mastny from Vysocina Jihlava in 2018 but he only made his debut at the start of last season due to a long-term injury. Mastny started in all four of United’s FA Youth Cup wins as the club reached the semi-finals for the first time since 2012. Mastny saved two penalties in United Under-21s' shootout win at Rochdale last month.
"Pleased with my performance and the team performance as well," Mastny told the MEN. "I thought it was much better than it was against Liverpool take a good thing from this game to another game and hopefully win.
"I feel a little bit better, it’s my second competitive game for the 23s I just want to keep playing. It’s football. One day we lose, one day we win. Even if we lose we have to keep coming back and train and forget about it and prepare for the next game."
Mengi, 18, made his United debut against LASK in the Europa League in August and was promoted to the first-team squad last month.
