Manchester United add five youngsters to Champions League group stage squad

Manchester United have added Mason Greenwood, Hannibal, Anthony Elanga, Teden Mengi and Matej Kovar to their 2021/22 Champions League group stage squad B-list.

Following on from the resounding 4-1 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday, United will get their Champions League campaign underway on Tuesday as they travel to Switzerland to face BSC Young Boys.

On the eve of the match, United have submitted their B-List to UEFA which has seen the five youngsters be made available for selection alongside the main 25-man squad.

Players who are born on or after January 1, 2000, and have been eligible to play for the club for any interrupted period of over two years since their 15th birthday do not need to take up a spot in the main squad and can instead be named on the B-list.

As a result, Greenwood still qualifies despite becoming a first-team regular for United over the last couple of seasons.

An unlimited amount of B-list players can also be registered throughout the season but it must be confirmed by midnight the night before a game.

United have now confirmed their main squad and B-list ahead of Tuesday's game, though it is not the travelling squad for the trip to Bern, which you can see here.
