Manchester United add another youth team star to Europa League squad

Young Manchester United centre-back Will Fish has been included in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad to take on Granada on Thursday.

The Red Devils will be looking to seal their progression to the Europa League semi-finals when they host the Spanish side at Old Trafford holding a 2-0 lead from the first leg.

And Solskjaer will be hoping they can get the job done as early as possible so he is able to make some early substitutes and rest some of his key men.

If that does prove to be the case 18-year-old Fish could be in line for his first-team debut.

The former U-16 captain has appeared regularly for United's Premier League 2 side this season, while he also played in the FA Youth Cup this year.

Fish will join fellow 18-year-old Anthony Elanga in the squad, who made the bench for the first leg in Spain last week.

Fish's opportunity comes with Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw ruled out of the match through suspension.

The Europa League represents United's only realistic chance of winning silverware this season, but despite their positive first leg result Solskjaer bemoaned the three suspensions his side picked up, with midfielder Scott McTominay also ruled out of Thursday's match.

"It was not a perfect night," Solskjaer said. "We got three yellow cards and three suspensions [but] 2-0 is very good result.

"We know how difficult it is to come to Spain. It’s created a good starting point for next week’s game – then we’ve got to play well to get a result. We want to win every game – football catches you so quickly if you rest.

"We can’t have any other approach. It’s still a young team, a learning team, and we have to improve all the time.”
