Manchester United ace Mason Greenwood tipped to be beaten to PFA award by Man City's Phil Foden

Manchester City attacking-midfielder Phil Foden has overtaken Manchester United star Mason Greenwood in the battle to win this season's PFA Young Player of the Season award.

That is according to bookmakers BetVictor, who have released their latest betting odds for who they believe will win the much-craved prize this season.

Both Foden and Greenwood, who have aspirations to become mainstays in the England national team in years to come, are two of the brightest and most promising youngsters currently applying their trade in the Premier League, with no shortage of attention and focus surrounding them.

The duo have both started this season in impressive fashion, despite Foden, who scooped the joint Man of the Match award after scoring in City's 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, only recently returning from injury.

The City star has scored once and claimed two assists in six appearances in all competitions so far this season, while Greenwood has scored three times in nine outings.

But despite Greenwood soon cementing himself as the early-season favourite to win the PFA Young Player of the Year gong, after scoring three goals in his first three Premier League appearances this season, Foden has now moved ahead of him with the bookies, with BetVictor currently offering a price of 4/1 on the England ace to scoop the award. Prior to his performance against Liverpool, odds were being offered at 6/1.

Greenwood, meanwhile, is now priced at 9/2 to scoop the award, meaning he is the current second favourite to win the accolade, with several others also in the running.

City star Ferran Torres, who has also enjoyed a relatively strong start to the season, is currently on the bookmakers' shortlist, priced at 6/1. United summer signing Jadon Sancho is slightly further down the pecking order, currently priced at 8/1.

Latest odds on the PFA Young Player of the Year:

Phil Foden - 4/1

Mason Greenwood - 9/2

Ferran Torres - 6/1

Bukayo Saka - 6/1

Jadon Sancho - 8/1

Reece James - 10/1

Emile Smith Rowe - 14/1
