Manchester transport chiefs are at it with the football bantz - again

Transport chiefs have continued their run of footy-themed traffic signs with another classic ahead of United's game with West Ham this weekend.

The Reds take on Manuel Pellegrini's Hammers in the 5:30pm kick-off at Old Trafford on Saturday in what is a crucial game in their fight for a top four place.

As with all United home games traffic is expected to be extremely busy, especially with the Regent Road roadwork closures still in place.

And ahead of the game they have once again flashed up a funny football-pun in their traffic information signs.

One spotted by an M.E.N reader in the city centre today said: "MUFC v West Ham. Old Trafford. Saturday 13th April. 17:30

"Utd need three points, but you don't!!

"Please slow down."

It is the latest in a line of funny traffic and football double entendres which have been displayed in recent weeks.

That was a reference to Cardiff boss Neil Warnock's threat to play his youth team against the Blues in what was a key game in the title race, in protest in refereeing decisions which had gone against them.

And after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's permanent appointment as United boss they referenced his popular terrace chant saying on their signs: "Ole's at the wheel. Keep your hands on yours."

TfGM said at the time: “The intention of our roadside signs is to inform as many people as possible of upcoming events so that they can plan their journeys in advance.

“We’re glad that this light-hearted message has brought a smile to people’s faces and helped us get out an important message about the potential for match-related travel delays.”
