Manchester to be drenched in glorious sunshine as temperatures reach 23C

Manchester is set to be bathed in glorious sunshine next week, according to weather experts. Sunseekers descended upon Piccadilly Gardens during last week's heatwave and the beautiful weather is set to continue, the Met Office predicts.

Temperatures are set to rise to a balmy 23C by Thursday, with largely dry and sunny spells expected throughout most of the week. Tomorrow (Monday June 20) will start bright but chilly, meteorologists say, with plenty of sunshine as the day goes on and highs of 21C.

The Met Office forecast reads: "A risk of rain across the north on Tuesday, otherwise remaining largely dry with sunny spells throughout the middle of the week. Feeling warmer and perhaps very warm by Thursday."

However, as Friday approaches, the weather could take a turn for the worst. The long-term forecast which covers June 24 to July 3 reads: "Generally unsettled start to the period with heavy showers and risk of hail and thunder likely across many areas, especially the south, and more prolonged rain possible in the northwest on Friday.

"However, some warm spells of sunshine remain probable. Sunny spells and showers, the latter being most frequent in the north, will alternate over the weekend.

"It may be rather windy, especially in the north and west. Near normal or rather cool feeling temperatures are expected.

"Into the next week, showers are likely to continue and become most prevalent initially in the north and west, then in the north and east. Southern parts will probably see mostly dry weather. Conditions are looking to become largely fine and dry by the start of July as high pressure builds."
