Manchester synagogue killer raped me, says Muslim convert wife who reveals family tragedies behind conversion to Islam

The Manchester synagogue terrorist’s wife has waived her right to anonymity to claim the vile misogynist raped her.

Jihad al-Shamie, 35, was on police bail for attacking Elizabeth Davis when he launched his deadly rampage on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

Father-of-three Melvin Cravitz, 66, and Adrian Daulby, 53, the “quiet hero” who blocked the doors of the Heaton Park Hebrew Synagogue in Crumpsall died on October 2.

Mrs Davis, 46, was arrested and released from custody by counter-terrorism police.

In an interview, the Muslim convert told how she met Islamic State-inspired Al-Shamie on the Islamic dating app Muzmatch.

But the mother-of-five discovered he was sex-obsessed, controlling and wanted her to wear a burka then complained her children were “too Westernised”.

Chillingly, the knifeman - shot dead by armed police - stated “all martyrs die with a smile on their face”.

He only gave in to her demand for a divorce in a 5am call five days before he went on his killing spree, the Daily Mail reports.

Mrs Davis, a hospital nursing assistant for 20 years, said Al-Shamie tried to make her daughters dress more conservatively, banned them from having boyfriends and stopped her son drinking beer.

He pressured her into an Islamic marriage which took place over the phone in his living room, she said.

Earlier this year, Mrs Davis says, Al-Shamie finally subjected her to the worst ordeal when she visited him at his parents’ house.

She said: “He basically scraped me up and threw me on the bed.

“I had been saying to him ‘No’ - we had just done it already - but his weight was too much on top of me and I couldn’t push him off.

“Afterwards it didn’t even register with him what had happened. It was like this was normal.”

She said Al-Shamie told her: “In Islam, you have to fulfil your husband’s needs.”

After the rape, she begged for a divorce, only for him to reportedly say: “I’ll divorce you when I am ready.”

Mrs Davis began looking for love on the dating app early in 2024 after the deaths of her two previous partners.

It was at this point she turned to Islam, having a conversion ceremony in her local mosque in Farnworth, near Bolton.

She said: “Before Islam, I didn’t feel like I had a religion. I believed in God, but I’ve never practised anything. So that was something that was missing in my life.”
