Manchester stabbing: Several injured in knife attack at McDonald's

A knifeman ran amok at a branch of McDonald’s in a Manchester shopping centre, police said. 

Officers were called to the fast food restaurant on Rochdale Road, in Harpurhey, shortly after on Wednesday afternoon. 

Police say initial inquiries suggest several people have been injured.

A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has been taken into custody for questioning.

A police spokesperson said the incident was not believed to be a terror attack.

Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: “Officers are in attendance and a cordon is currently in place.

“A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and has been taken into custody for questioning. This is not being linked to terrorism. Enquiries are ongoing.”
