A man has died after being shot in Manchester.
He and another man arrived at a hospital with gunshot wounds at shortly before 1am today.
Despite the efforts of medical workers, the 36-year old later died of his injuries.
A 21-year-old man is currently in a life-threatening condition.
Greater Manchester Police say an incident is believed to have taken place in the city's Moss Side area.
There are reports on Twitter saying the shootings may have happened at a street party earlier in the evening.
The claims have not been verified.
Claremont Road is currently closed to traffic, from Princess Road to Lloyd Street Sth.
Officers are currently at the scene.
In a statement, the force said: "Police are aware of an incident where shortly before 1am today two men self-presented at hospital with gunshot wounds.
"Despite the best efforts of medical workers, a 36-year old man has sadly died from his injuries and a 21-year old man remains in a life threatening condition.
"Police are currently responding to this incident and I would like to reassure the community that there is an increased police presence in the Moss Side area where this incident is believed to have taken place.
"We will provide an update as soon as we have further information."
