A man has been rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds after a shooting in south Manchester.
Armed police swarmed on Copthorne Street in Longsight on Wednesday night, after reports that a man had been shot shortly after 7.20pm.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and treated the man, thought to be in his 20s, for multiple gunshot wounds, the MEN reports.
He was then taken to hospital, police confirmed.
No further details about the man's condition have been released by officers at this stage.
Detectives have since launched an investigation into the shooting and so far no arrests have been made.
A large police cordon remained on Copthorne Street and neighbouring Brynton Road and Meldon Road Wednesday night.
Armed police were spotted patrolling nearby, with multiple police vehicles also stationed in the area.
Forensic officers arrived a short time later, and could be seen laying out markers as they assessed the scene.
Eye witnesses described seeing bloodied items in the middle of the street.
Debris left by paramedics attending the incident could also be seen strewn across the road.
Police say there is not believed to be a wider threat to the public following the incident.
A spokesperson for GMP said: "At around 7.20pm this evening (20 October), police were called to reports that a man had been shot on Copthorne Crescent, Manchester.
"Emergency services attended and a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds.
"Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.
"A scene remains in place and there is not believed to be a wider threat to the public."
