Manchester's Nightingale coronavirus hospital is recruiting for 200 roles

Manchester's new coronavirus hospital, the 'Nightingale of the North', is recruiting facilities staff.

Interserve has been tasked with delivering catering, cleaning, maintenance, portering, concierge and waste management services.

Around 200 facilities roles are available ahead of the hospital's opening at Manchester Central on Sunday, April 12.

When finished, the Nightingale will house 650 beds for COVID-19 patients, with capacity for another 100 beds, should they be required.

The majority of patients will be those in process of being 'stepped-down' from ICU and critical care beds at neighbouring hospitals.

The aim is to nurse coronavirus patients until they are well enough to continue their recovery at home, though NHS bosses say they are prepared to provide end of life care.

Martin Burholt, managing director for Interserve’s UK Communities and International FM business unit, said: "We are delighted to be supporting the NHS and the Manchester community with this vital healthcare service. Our expertise in providing crucial support services to front-line clinical operations has ensured we can mobilise the FM services swiftly and effectively.”

"Our facilities management teams continue to provide essential cleaning, maintenance, security and catering services to frontline operations across the UK. I am immensely proud of our colleagues for delivering exceptional services during these challenging times.”

Interserve, an international support services, construction and equipment group, has been commissioned by the UK Government to get the full suite of FM services up and running before opening on Easter Sunday.
