Manchester's newest nightclub has a bouncy dancefloor, a giant pink tank and a vending machine bar

Big kids rejoice - the latest club to join Manchester's lively nightlife scene is an adult playground complete with a Tetris wall, beer claw machine and tank-shaped DJ booth.

Playground has taken over the former Viva site on Whitworth Street West, where neighbours include the O2 Ritz, Gorilla, and Bunny Jackson's Juke Joint.

Opened in mid-September, the club spreads over two floors, with three rooms of music and entertainment to choose from.

Enormous LED 'wings' flash around the door to enter, where a Tron-style glowing corridor leads through to the first room.

Here, party-goers will find a light-up disco dancefloor mounted on springs - so the harder you dance, the more it bounces - beneath a suspended LED screen ceiling.

Overlooking the dancefloor is a huge pink tank, a replica which operates as a DJ booth. There are plans to turn the tank's replica cannons into confetti cannons.

The first room also has two vending machines dispensing £4 bottles of double measure spirits, from Jagermeister to vodka, with a post-mix drinks dispenser alongside it to make your perfect drink.

There's a claw machine here too, costing £1 a go, but rather than the stuffed toys you'd find in most arcades the prize here is beer.

Completing the first room is a wall of neon signs for the perfect Instagram moment.

The main club area is to the back of the venue, with a long bar and a raised catwalk dancefloor that projects images beneath dancing feet.

There are further LED screens overhead too, and a glowing Tetris wall, with plans to add a pair of 3D lasers.

Small booth areas line the sides of the dancefloor, to which you can have a bottle delivered in a miniature tank.

Upstairs is another dancefloor playing a more niche selection of music, which is also available for private hire.

The main room will play a mix of commercial dance and house music, while upstairs visitors could find afrobeat, dubstep or just about any genre you could think of.

Playground is open now at 58 Whitworth Sreet West.
