Manchester’s biggest beer festival is teaming up with one of the North’s best food festivals

Manchester Craft Beer Festival makes its grand return this summer and ahead of its takeover of Depot Mayfield in July, organisers have announced its new food partner.

In a match made in food and drink heaven, the team behind the beer festival have confirmed Stockport favourites, Foodie Friday, are coming aboard to offer a range of food options to complement some of the UK's and world's best beers.

Manchester’s biggest beer event - the only one of its kind to have all beer covered in the ticket price - is running across the weekend of 21-22 July at Mayfield Depot and will see vendors from Stockport’s monthly food event bring street food options for festival attendees.

The monthly food festival, which takes place inside and outside the town's Victorian Market Hall on the last Friday of every month, has become an integral part of Stockport's food and drink scene. Last year, creators John and Rosemary Barrett were awarded the Howard and Ruth Outstanding Achievement Award at the Manchester Food and Drink Awards.

Vendors will include Just Gyros' chicken and feta-packed pittas; Tapas Altrincham's hearty, fresh paella and steak flatbread kebabs; and Chilli’s Indian's Indian Keema and veggie wraps, samosas and bhajis, plus much more. The configuration of this year’s festival will also change, bringing Stockport Foodie Friday vendors inside Mayfield Depot, closer to the main pouring area, leaving a larger space outside for people to enjoy food and drink outside.

Manchester Craft Beer founder Greg Wells said: "Food is such an important part of our festival - we love seeing festival goers having a great time eating, tasting and enjoying brilliant dishes from talented local chefs and producers. Working with Stockport's Foodie Friday was an opportunity we grabbed with both hands - they share the same approach to good times as us, and what they’re doing in Stockport is amazing - unbelieve scenes each month. Can’t wait to bring that to the heart of MCBF.”

Stockport Foodie Friday founder John Barratt added: "We're delighted to be teaming up with the Manchester Craft Beer Festival bringing our Foodie Friday good time vibes and award-winning food offers from Stockport to Manchester with love.”

Described as an "all-inclusive" beer festival, all beer is included in the ticket priced at £55 for standard entry or £50 for group entry. Punters can sample over 500 beers from 65 breweries, whilst also chatting with the brewers about their beer.

As well as sampling the wares of world-class breweries and an award-winning food festival, visitors will be able to try artisanal snacks and drinks spanning cocktails and whisky, to wine and ciders. Many will have free samples, with long drinks and large serves available at an additional cost.

Tickets are available via the Manchester Craft Beer Festival website and each ticket includes entry to the festival, festival pours of any beer from any brewer, a full music line up, access to the people that make the beer themselves and a free beer tasting glass.

The Manchester Craft Beer Festival takes place at Depot Mayfield on Baring Street on Friday, July 21. There are three sessions across the weekend - 6-11pm on Friday, 11.30am-4.30pm on and 6-11pm on Saturday, July 22.
