Manchester Pride adds Cheryl and more acts to 2019 line up

Manchester Pride has added even more artists to the line-up of the Manchester Pride Live event, which will take place over the August bank holiday weekend.

Joining Ariana Grande and Years and Years will be ex-Girls Aloud singer Cheryl, who will perform live on Sunday, August 25.

As well as Cheryl, Manchester Pride has also secured former N-Dubz singer and previous X Factor judge Tulisa, who mentored Little Mix during her time on the reality talent show.

Ministry of Sound Classical has joined the bill on the Sunday, with the 50-strong London Concert Orchestra performing some of the biggest dance hits from the 1990s.

Expect to hear classical renditions of tracks such as Hey Boy Hey Girl by The Chemical Brothers, Insomnia by Faithless, and Right Here Right Now by Fatboy Slim.

This year's Manchester Pride Live will take place at Mayfield Depot in a brand new 10,000-capacity gig space, after development in the Gay Village forced the live music portion of the weekend to relocate.

It will be Cheryl's only Pride event appearance of the year, brought to the celebration by legendary LGBT+ bar G-A-Y.

Tulisa last performed at Manchester Pride Festival back in 2016.

Both will be joining a line-up that includes Bananarama, Louisa and Becky Hill.

American record producer and house music DJ Kings of Tomorrow - real name Sandy Riviera - will join the impressive list of DJs that already included Faithless, Basement Jaxx, Hercules and Love Affair and Nicky Siano’s Hallelujah Disco.

Taking over the Depot stage on Sunday night will be female DJ duo Maze&Masters (Verity Mayes and Bryony Masters), with their underground party blend of house and techno.

Manchester Pride Live is one of the first events to be held at Depot, following on from Manchester International Festival.

Performances will take place across areas including The Yard, Depot and The Concourse, which will host a street food market and pop-up performances.

The former platforms of the enormous derelict train station will be home to a funfair.

Although the music portion of the weekend has been moved to Mayfield, close to Piccadilly Station, the spiritual heart of the event will still remain in the area around Canal Street.

Here, there will be the Gay Village Party, with the likes of Liberty X performing at Sackville Gardens, and markets, street food and a sing-along cinema all popping up.

The annual Candlelit Vigil will be held at the end of the weekend, in a touching tribute to the lives lost to the HIV virus.

Tickets for Sunday have sold out but Saturday (from £34.50) and weekend (from £69.50) tickets are still available at manchesterpride.com/tickets
