Manchester Piccadilly rail services face severe disruption after train derails at Ardwick

Commuters are facing major delays on services from Manchester Piccadilly this morning after a train derailed at a depot in Ardwick.

It comes after a large number of trains were cancelled or delayed yesterday - the first day of Northern Rail's new timetable.

Manchester Piccadilly's official Twitter account posted about the disruption this morning (Tuesday).

The tweet said that services to and from Manchester Piccadilly will be affected 'until at least 10am.'

Transpennine Express also posted about the derailment, announcing that they will be running fewer trains.

Services to and from Stoke-On-Trent, Hadfield and Huddersfield may be cancelled or delayed.

A post on the National Rail website said rail replacement transport has been 'requested to run' between Piccadilly and Glossop.
