Manchester party bus taken off road after driver spotted using phone at the wheel

A party bus is now making its way to the compound after the driver was found using his phone at the wheel. The minibus, which can be hired for various events, was stopped by traffic cops on Sunday (July 10).

Officers then discovered that the driver, who had been spotted using his mobile phone behind the wheel, also did not have a valid license. The vehicle was then seized and taken to a locked compound.

Greater Manchester Police announced the incident on social media, apologising for any cancellations that party-goers may have faced due to the bus being taken off the road. The Fiat minibus was stopped in the city centre, just off Oxford Road.

The company supplying the party buses has not been disclosed. However, pictured showed the grey minibus, which sits up to 20 passengers, also offered karaoke for those on board.

A post to GMP's Traffic page read: "The Vengabus is coming and everybody's jumping, Manchester to Bus Pound!

"Sorry to cancel the party bus this weekend, we've had to take it off the road as the driver didn't have a valid licence and was on his phone whilst driving! So I'm afraid, the wheels of steel aren't turning!"
