It's been the toughest 18 months NHS workers have ever faced.
And some of the heroes of the pandemic in Manchester have been taking time to reflect on what they've all been through.
Staff from Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) have shared some of their experiences in a new video.
The trust is in charge of 10 hospitals across Manchester and Trafford, including the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI), Wythenshawe Hospital, Saint Mary's Hospital, and the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
In the video, staff talk about the challenges they faced and how they overcame them.
They also share their experiences of helping Covid patients and their families through their illness.
Dental nurses Demi Weatherhead and Tracy Prescott were redeployed from the dental hospital to the family liaison team.
Some of their difficult duties included end of life calls with patients and their relatives.
Tracy said: "It was really really upsetting.
"You'd make the call to the family and if it was on the iPad, you'd see all the family together to say their last words and their last goodbyes to the patient because there was no guarantee they'd survive.
"It was heartbreaking."
Demi added: "A lot of the families would ask you to hold the patient's hand so that they knew someone was holding their hands.
"And they were comforted by that."
Dr John Bright, a consultant at the MRI's respiratory department, said: "One of my consultant colleagues has been online every single day. He didn't miss a day for one year. Even when he should have been on holiday, he was working."
