Manchester Museum is offering a rare glimpse at its amazing Ancient Egypt collection

Budding archaeologists can get a rare up-close look at artefacts from ancient Egypt in a new live experience.

Dr Campbell Price, Curator of Egypt and Sudan at Manchester Museum will broadcast live from his home study on Thursday, delving deep into this fascinating era.

During Egyptology in Lockdown Live, Dr Campbell Price will explore fascinating objects from the collection, share the ways you can access the museum's collection off-site, and will answer the top 10 Ancient Egypt questions submitted every week.

The live session is suitable for all ages - including budding Egyptologists and the generally curious.

You can tune into Periscope @mcrmuseum  every Thursday at 3pm.

The Manchester Museum houses over 18,000 objects from ancient Egypt and Sudan, making one of the largest collections in Britain - and one of the best in the world.

Manchester’s extensive Egyptology collection illustrates both everyday life and how the residents of ancient Egypt prepared for the afterlife.

The permanent collection includes human and animal mummies, artefacts used by the ancient Egyptians, jewelery and items of cultural significance.

The Egyptology galleries at Manchester have been closed while for the construction of a new two-storey extension, with new gallery spaces, a new entrance and shop.
