Manchester Gin to enter Canadian market

Artisan gin brand Manchester Gin is set to enter the Canadian market after securing a listing with the Liquor Control Board of Ontario.

Its award-winning Signature gin, which uses dandelion and burdock as its signature botanicals, will be on shelves in the Canadian city in January, it said.

The listing sees Manchester Gin, founded by master distillers Jen Wiggins and Seb Heeley in 2013, enter its eighth export market, joining the likes of Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and Jersey.

Mr Heeley said securing the Canada listing is a “dream come true”.

“We absolutely loved being able to offer intimate Signature gin tasting sessions through one of the world’s largest purchasers of alcoholic drinks.”

The listing comes after the relocation of the brand’s distillery - named The Spirit of Manchester - which lies beneath Manchester Central on Watson Street.

The distillery features a 1,000 litre still and a bar and restaurant where visitors can take part in gin tours, guided tastings and distill their own spirit.

Mr Heeley added: “On the back of the success of the new distillery, we are in a great place to introduce people internationally to our products and brand.”
