Manchester Food and Drink Festival reveals street food line up at this year's socially-distanced event

Manchester Food and Drink Festival has revealed the street food line up for this year's event.

The festival hub returns to Cathedral Gardens from September 24 to October 4 in a new, council-approved format designed around social distancing.

All the street food menus will be available to order via a new MFDF app, with table service across the site.

Entry to the site will be free and walk-ins are welcome, but guests can guarantee a table and skip any queues for a reservation fee of £5.

The hub will be open from Thursday September 24 to Sunday September 27, and then again from Thursday October 4 to Sunday October 4.

A programme of offers and events will also be taking place at restaurants, bars, cafes and chefs throughout the full 12 days.

The street food line up for both weekends is as follows:

September 24 to 27

What’s Your Beef - grass-fed beef burgers

Grandad's Sausages - gourmet British hotdogs

Wallace and Sons - handmade bao and gyoza

The Spinn - wraps, wings and halloumi fries

Maison BREiZH - Breton galettes and crêpes

Ginger's Comfort Emporium - ice cream and sorbet

Bundobust - vegetarian Indian street food and craft beer

The hub will operate with a limited capacity in place to ensure social distancing guidelines are followed.

The site will be split into two areas - The Feasting Quarter and the Festival Market - both of which will be undercover with enough seating for all guests to eat and drink at tables.

The event is able to go ahead following council approval of its safety plans, and with sponsorship from food delivery service JustEat.

The festival culminates in the annual MFDF Awards, which feature a clutch of new categories reflecting the huge impact the coronavirus lockdown has had on the hospitality sector.

New prizes for 2020 include best DIY delivery food offering, best food and drink box delivery and lockdown heroes, celebrating the innovation, resilience, altruism and successes that have taken place in the difficult months since March.

This year's winners will be entirely voted for by the public, and crowned at a live-streamed virtual ceremony on October 5.
