Manchester Evening News named Website of the Year for second year running at the Regional Press Awards

The Manchester Evening News has been named Website of the Year at the Regional Press Awards - for the second year running.

The M.E.N. was also highly commended in the Front Page of the Year (daily papers) category for its coverage of the first anniversary of the Manchester Arena bombing.

It follows last year's success at the Society of Editor-run event.

In 2018, the M.E.N. bagged awards in seven categories - and was named Newspaper of the Year and Website of the Year.

The event, held in London on Friday, champions the best of regional British media.

This year, M.E.N. politics and investigations editor Jennifer Williams was crowned Long Form Journalist/Feature Writer of the Year.

She was handed the prestigious award for her investigation into Manchester's 'hidden homelessness' crisis.

The three-part series laid bare the grim reality for many families in the city.

Jennifer was also highly commended in the Specialist Writer/Impact Journalist of the Year and Scoop of the Year categories for the same investigation.

Jon Macpherson, reporter for the Accrington Observer and Rossendale Free Press - part of the MEN Media family - was highly commended in the Weekly Reporter of the Year category.

Jennifer Williams was applauded for her investigation into Manchester's 'hidden homeless' (M.E.N.)

The Manchester Evening News Instagram account was highly commended in the Digital Initiative of the Year category.

The Reach Data Unit, based at the Manchester Evening News' Oldham HQ, was highly commended in the the Overall Digital Award category.

Manchester Evening News journalists were nominated for awards in a range of categories.
