Manchester derby team news: Paul Pogba an injury doubt for United vs Man City

Paul Pogba has handed Jose Mourinho a late injury concern ahead of the Manchester derby.

The Frenchman didn’t train with the rest of Manchester United’s squad on Friday, but it is hoped he will take part in Manchester United’s final preparations on Saturday.

He underwent a private session indoors as he nurses a minor issue.

Mourinho insisted there were no major new injury problems ahead of Sunday’s clash with Manchester City, but Pogba’s absence from Friday’s session is a concern.

It is not clear if he was left out of training as a precautionary measure, but he has Saturday to prove he is fit to start at the Etihad.

Mourinho has also given Romelu Lukaku that session to convince him he’s recovered sufficiently from a hamstring injury that ruled the Belgian out of the games against Bournemouth and Juventus.

Mourinho, who dropped the £75m striker for the 2-1 win against Everton last month, is considering starting him against Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions as he looks to thrust United back into the title race.

But he has made it clear the 25-year-old has to convince club doctors of his fitness.

“Lukaku is training with the team this morning,” the United manager confirmed.

"“If this answer is positive, and we have of course one more session tomorrow, if the answer is positive he is ready.

“But all I can say now is he trains with the team. I don’t know his answer.”

Alexis Sanchez also trained on Friday after suffering a dead leg against Juve.
