Manchester clubbing institution Homoelectric is throwing a festival in a railway depot

Manchester clubbing institution Homoelectric is throwing its first festival, inside a disused railway station.

Homobloc will take over The Depot, part of the Mayfield development and the new home of the Warehouse Project, on November 9.

US techno DJ and producer The Black Madonna will headline a line up including disco legend Roisin Murphy, Scandinavian super DJ HAAI and man of the moment Midland.

Also confirmed to perform across four stages at the 10,000 capacity venue are Jaye Ward, Honey Soundsystem, Proshumer, Adonis, Jamie Bull, Seth Troxler, Hunee, Crazy P, Romy, Honey Dijon, Optimo, Horse Meat Disco, Palms Trax and Dan Beaumont.

Homoelectric, which won the CityLife Award for Best Club Night this year , has been throwing parties in the city for two decades and prides itself on being a musical melting pot with an inclusive atmosphere.

In their own words, it's 'a queer party for all', with a soundtrack spanning afrobeat, boogie, disco, garage house, techno, bass, outsider pop and more.

Homoelectric founder Luke Cowdrey, one half of DJ duo The Unabombers who also run bars and restaurants The Refuge in Manchester, Volta in West Didsbury and Electrik in Chorlton, said: "It's with great excitement, after two decades of blood sweat and tears from out first home in a Manchester back street club, we are planning our very own Homoelectric festival.

"We have finally found our holy grail place. This is something very special and as ever this is all about uniting the clans, togetherness, inclusivity and love, building a place where we can bring together all our people and our heroes and dance 'til we are free."

Early bird tickets cost £35, then general release tickets are priced at £39.50 with tickets available from ticketmaster.co.uk. For more information homobloc.co.uk .
