Manchester City vs Hoffenheim as it happened: City top come from behind to top Champions League group

Leroy Sane struck twice as Manchester City came from behind to secure top spot in Champions League Group F with a 2-1 win over Hoffenheim.

Sane cancelled out former Leicester striker Andrej Kramaric's early penalty with a stunning free-kick just before half time and grabbed his second on the hour.

City also hit the woodwork twice as they created numerous chances after making a sluggish start.

Pep Guardiola's side, who gave valuable experience to 18-year-old Phil Foden, dominated the second half and Sane could have had a hat-trick had he not passed up another shooting chance.

Meanwhile, the Blue side of Manchester, who face Hoffenheim this evening line up as follows:

Can they come back after their first defeat of the season against Chelsea?
And how do we rate United's chances tonight?

If they are victorious this evening and Juventus drop points at Young Boys then the Red Devils will finish 1st in the group.

This is how Valencia line up attempting to stop them:

Will City have it easy tonight?

Hoffenheim put up stern resistance a few weeks ago in Germany, with David Silva rescuing the Citizens late on in the game.

Here's how they line up this evening:
Away from the later games this evening, some interesting updates from Group G's early kick offs coming through.

Real Madrid are 2-0 down, AT HOME, against Cska Moscow.

They've already lost to the Russian side in the group but look like they might do so again. Cska WOULD become the first team to beat Real twice in the group stages without progressing.

Don't put your money on them getting back in this, folks...
THREE. NIL. CSKA.

THREE.

3-0.

CSKA celebrating..
Incredibly enough, with Plzen currently beating Roma, CSKA are going out of European football altogether, despite being on the precipice of beating the champions home and away!

It's a crazy game.
Yikes! Ten minutes away from kick off at Mestalla and the Etihad...
KICK OFF
Kick off in Manchester and Spain as both City and United get underway...

Stay here for all the live updates.
MATCH ACTION
3 mins: Positive start to the match by United who create a good counter attacking chance which is unsurprisingly quelled courtesy of Lukaku who's heavy touch runs away from him.

I fear there may be more to come of that.
6 mins: As I write this, Valencia have a good chance to take the lead as their shot is deflected to Kondogbia who beats Jones into the box and stabs the ball towards goal but the referee gives a goal kick, to their dismay.
MATCH ACTION
6 mins: Man City 0-0 Hoffenheim

Meanwhile in Manchester, it appears our very own Jack Pitt-Brooke is enjoying himself...
YELLOW CARD
9 mins: CRUNCHING TACKLE!

Some might argue that Valencia is lucky to stay on the pitch after a nasty tackle on the young left back, Lato, starting his first Champions League match.
MATCH ACTION
12 mins: CHANCE HOFFENHEIM!

The German club break at pace at Man City and the ball is pulled back to the former Leicester City player, lurking on the edge of the box.

He casually sidefoots the ball towards goal but his shot goes narrowly over the bar.
GOAL!
17 mins: GOAL!! Valencia 1-0 United (Soler)

Far too easy for the Valencia winger as the ball falls to him in the box after a defensive clearance.

He has too much time to take a touch and his shot is like an arrow, accurately struck past the flat-footed Sergio Romero, through the legs of Eric Bailly.
16 mins: GOAL! Man City 0-1 Hoffenheim (Kramaric!)

It's a deserved lead for the German side and their fans go wild.

Laporte felled the Hoffenheim attackers to give away the spotkick and Kramaric finished it with aplomb, knocking it down the middle.

Moments before this, an incredible fingertip save from Ederson kept Kramaric out once again.

City need to up their game.

If things stay like this and Lyon beat Shakhtar, Lyon will finish top.
MATCH ACTION
20 mins: CHANCE CITY!

set piece this time provides City with their best chance to equalise as John Stones finds himself free in the box but his header is well saved by Baumann...just!
