A roundup of today’s most eyecatching European action:
Ivan Toney officially scored two of Brentford’s goals in a 7-2 thrashing of Wycombe, but it looks like he wants a hat-trick:

And Scott Murray is on hand to take you through Arsenal v Manchester United, which will be kicking off shortly:
Ed Aarons has filed his match report on Crystal Palace 1-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers:
Where has it all gone wrong for Wolves? An eighth successive Premier League match without a victory following Eberechi Eze’s excellent goal meant Crystal Palace gained revenge for their FA Cup defeat earlier this month to move ahead of their opponents in the table.
But in the week that Nuno Espírito Santo made a personal donation of £250,000 to a new initiative supporting local food banks, the manner in which his side surrendered the points here will be a major concern. Against opponents who had also been struggling for form, it was only during the last 10 minutes that Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita had any reason to fear his clean sheet could be under threat as the hosts hung on for their first victory since 2 January.
More here:
Jamie Jackson has filed his match report on Manchester City 1-0 Sheffield United:
Pep Guardiola’s relentless winning machine rolls on, Manchester City clinching a 12th successive victory in a game they dominated.
As the game approached its end, Oleksandr Zinchenko warmed Aaron Ramsdale’s fingers with a 20-yard effort and Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, Ilkay Gündogan and Ferran Torres continued to press tirelessly, before John Fleck unloaded a long-range effort that went close to grabbing a share of the points. In the end, though, Gabriel Jesus’s first-half strike proved the winner and thus Guardiola and team will travel to Burnley on Wednesday top of the table.

Final scores: West Brom 2-2 Fulham, Man City 1-0 Sheff Utd, Crystal Palace 1-0 Wolves
Final whistles are blowing across the land, and the three Premier League games are now over!
Ivan Toney has scored a second to make it Brentford 6-2 Wycombe, and what was a testy fixture has become a goal difference booster for the home side. And as I type that they score a seventh!
Updated
Nearly a second goal for City, in the third minute of stoppage time: Foden feeds Jesus, whose right-footed shot looked far-corner-bound, only for Ramsdale to tip it wide!
Brentford’s game against Wycombe has been a ding-dong battle, with chances for both sides and at all stages, but in terms of goals it’s become a succession of dings: Brentford are now 5-2 up, Sergi Canos with their fifth.
Nearly an equaliser for Sheffield United! It’s a volley from Fleck, nicely hit but it flies just wide of goal!
The teams are in for the early evening game between Manchester United and Arsenal, and here they are:
Arsenal: Leno, Bellerin, Holding, Luiz, Cedric, Thomas, Xhaka, Martinelli, Smith-Rowe, Pepe, Lacazette. Subs: Gabriel, Odegaard, Willian, Runarsson, Maitland-Niles, Chambers, Elneny, Willock, Nketiah.
Man Utd: De Gea, Wan Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, McTominay, Fred, Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Pogba, Cavani. Subs: Bailly, Martial, Greenwood, James, Henderson, Alex Telles, Matic, Van de Beek, Tuanzebe.
Referee: Michael Oliver.
GOAL! West Brom 2-2 Fulham (Cavaleiro, 77 mins)
An excellent right-wing cross from Reed, a far-post diving header from Ivan Cavaleiro, and it’s all square once again at the Hawthorns!
Updated
Adama Traore administers an excellent nutmeg on poor Patrick van Aanholt, but the low cross is rubbish, and the moment will thus not make any highlights reels, sadly.
Crystal Palace hit the bar! The home side breaks after a Wolves corner, Batshuayi passes to Zaha, and he runs into the area, cuts onto his left foot, and smashes the ball against the woodwork!
GOAL! West Brom 2-1 Fulham (Pereira, 66 mins)
West Brom have turned it around! A low ball from Diagne on the right, Pereira slides in at the near post, and the ball loops across goal and in! It might have come off the defender who slid with Pereira in an attempt to stop him, but either way the Baggies are celebrating and Big Sam is looking clever!

The final whistle has just sounded at Signal Iduna Park, where Borussia Dortmund trailed Augburg for a while but ended up winning 3-1, with Jadon Sancho scoring the second.

GOAL! Crystal Palace 1-0 Wolves (Eze, 60 mins)
That’s how to hit a football! The ball is slid across the edge of the area to Eze, who takes a lovely first touch before thundering a left-footer low into the net from just inside the area!
Updated
Lincoln just had a brilliant chance to equalise against Doncaster, but George Grant’s penalty was excellently saved and 0-1 it remains.
A tale of two one-sided League One matches. In-form Oxford are playing out-of-form Fleetwood, who went down to 10 men when Charlier Mulgrew was sent off after just six minutes. Oxford have had 74% of possession, 10 shots, eight corners, and lead 1-0. Meanwhile league leaders Lincoln are at home to Doncaster: they have had 71% of possession, 10 shots, seven corners, and are 1-0 down, Taylor Richards scoring against the run of play.
GOAL! West Brom 1-1 Fulham (Bartley, 47 mins)
An equaliser in the opening moments of the second half! It’s a wonderful ball into the area from the left from Pereira, and a very smart finish from Bartley in the middle!
Updated
West Brom make their second substitution at half-time, Mbaye Diagne replacing Callum Robinson.

Play has resumed across most of the country. The prize for the most efficient performance of the first half goes to Port Vale, who had 51.4% of possession, three more passes than Southend, a total of five shots and just four on target. They lead 4-0.
📊 | Here's the stats after the first half, what does the second half have in store? #PVFC pic.twitter.com/VwECImn71W
— Port Vale FC (@OfficialPVFC) January 30, 2021
West Brom have had 37% of possession and just one shot in the first half of their win-or-bust (or at least, win-or-deflated) home game against Fulham. The only way, for them, is up. Or sideways. Or potentially down.
It is now half-time in all three Premier League games, and almost everywhere. Time for a brief breather.
Having held the lead for five minutes earlier in the game against Wycombe, Brentford score again to restore their advantage, Tariq Fosu tapping in the rebound in the 41st minute after Ivan Toney’s shot was saved. This time their lead lasts two minutes, and Admiral Muskwe has scored Wycombe’s second.
Updated
The rapid exchange of goals award goes to Plymouth and Accrington Stanley: Stanley took a 41st-minute lead, Plymouth scored a 43rd-minute equaliser. As you were.
Swansea are now 2-0 up at Rotherham, and Matt Grimes has scored an absolute cracker with his left foot from 22 yards or thereabouts.
It is nearly 11 years since St Mirren last beat Celtic in the league. It is exactly, to the day, 31 years since they last won atCeltic. Could it happen again today?

Updated
Swansea have taken the lead at Rotherham, where Conor Hourihane has steered a lovely outside-of-the-left-foot curler into the home goal from just inside the area.
A big move from Big Sam: Dara O’Shea has been substituted after less then 25 minutes of West Brom’s game against Fulham, and Karlan Grant has come on. It hasn’t immediately helped: Lookman has just been played through, but a poor first touch forces him wide, and his shot is saved! Ajayi had an arm around him as he shot - perhaps if he’d just fallen over Fulham would have had a penalty, instead of a corner.
Nearly a second for Fulham! Reid is played through again, and he takes a touch, gets into the penalty area and confidently sidefoots past Johnstone ... but into the foot of the post! The ball rebounds into the West Brom keeper, deflects just past Reid, and is cleared!
No sooner do I write that than Uche Ikpeazu dances past several defenders before curling a beauty in at the far post to make it Brentford 1-1 Wycombe!
Updated
With Norwich held to a goalless draw at lunchtime by Middlesbrough and Bournemouth beaten by Reading last night, the Championship’s top six have had a couple of poor results already. But Brentford’s afternoon has started just swimmingly, Ethan Pinnock giving them a ninth-minute lead at home to bottom club Wycombe.
GOAL! West Brom 0-1 Fulham (Decordova-Reid, 10 mins)
A huge goal in the bottom-of-the-table six-pointer! Mitrovic is inevitably involved, chesting down a long pass, hoovering up the attention of all nearby defenders, and then turning and finding Reid, bombing into the area from the right, who rifles past Johnstone!
Updated
GOAL! Man City 1-0 Sheffield United (Jesus, 9 mins)
The defending here is not ideal. A long pass flicks a defender’s head on its way through to Torres, who falls over, gets up, keeps the ball anyway, twists past his marker and looks up. At this point, Jesus is being marked by, I think, Basham, but at the last moment Basham leaves his man to close down Gundogan, who is arriving from deep, but Torres passes insted to Jesus who has the freedom of the six-yard box and scores with ease.

BONG! It’s 3pm, football o’clock!
“Things might get even fruitier at Tannadice today for Micky Mellon if Dundee United don’t improve massively on their midweek showing which resulted in a 5-1 shellacking at the hand of St Mirren,” writes Simon McMahon, the Guardian’s very own voluntary occasional Scottish football correspondent. “The Tangerine Army have been sucking lemons ever since and today welcome Hibs, who also have a point to prove after their narrow defeat to Rangers, in the plum game of the day. Who, I wonder, will be blowing raspberries at FT?” That preview is, if you don’t mind me saying so, sub-lime.
It seems to be snowing quite hard at the Hawthorns. It’s settling in Scott Parker’s hair, but the pitch looks pretty clear.
“Reassuring to see Phil Foden in the picture as, for the second week running, the Guardian preview has omitted him from the team, the bench and even the injured list!” writes Dean Kinsella. I’m afraid this is true. I have no explanation, but I can tell you from long if thankfully distant experience that putting those previews together is complicated enough for the odd name to go missing, especially if it’s only five letters long.

Crystal Palace: Guaita, Clyne, Kouyate, Dann, van Aanholt, Eze, Milivojevic, McCarthy, Zaha, Ayew, Batshuayi. Subs: Mateta, Butland, Ward, Townsend, Benteke, Cahill, Mitchell, Kelly, Riedewald.

Referee: Simon Hooper.
Roy Hodgson has a great opportunity against Wolves to guide Crystal Palace back into the winner’s enclosure after a dismal defeat in midweek. Wolves are winless in seven with their dive down the table coinciding with Raúl Jimenéz’s absence. The striker remains unavailable as he recovers from a head injury. Wolves have not been the same without him and Hodgson will be confident his side can improve markedly on the 1-0 defeat in the Cup. Willian José may be given a larger role to bring some experience into Wolves’ attack. Graham Searles

West Brom need to dig deep against Fulham and Sheffield United on Tuesday. Two wins would be huge in their bid to stay up but Sam Allardyce’s side have not shown any fluency yet and lady luck may have to play her part to beat Scott Parker’s draw-happy side. Not to mention the Blades, who appear to be much better than their league position dictates. A first win for Fulham since November could bring them to within touching distance of Brighton and Newcastle, who have very tricky fixtures in Tottenham and Everton, respectively. Graham Searles

Manchester City are hoping for a 12th consecutive win in all competitions while Sheffield United will have confidence boosted by winning 2-1 at Manchester United on Wednesday. Hello world!
It’s that time again! Saturday afternoon sees three Premier League matches, with Sheffield United back in Manchester and hoping to spring another surprise against City, knowing if they win they might not be bottom of the table by team-time, and West Brom hosting Fulham in a ding-dong relegation six-pointer.
Meanwhile in the Football League it’s not a classic day in the Championship, but thankfully there’s plenty of intrigue elsewhere. Doncaster are fourth in League One but have at least two games in hand on every other top-six side would top the table if they won them both. Today they visit the league leaders, Lincoln, in a match that could throw them right into the automatic promotion mix. Bottom club Burton Albion, whose recent record of one win in 10 league games is at least better than the record of one win in 12 that preceded it, have a Covid-enforced weekend off. Wigan are 23rd but could feasibly be out of the relegation places this evening if they beat 20th-placed Northampton. Oxford are 11th, and play 14th-placed Fleetwood in a superficially well-matched encounter. But Oxford have won every one of their last six games and Fleetwood haven’t won any of theirs; at the start of December Oxford were 19th and Fleetwood seventh; now Oxford are six points ahead with two games in hand. It is close at the top in League Two, where second-placed Forest Green host Cheltenham, two places behind them, while Tranmere in eighth travel to third-placed Morecambe knowing they will overtake their opponents if they win. There’s also a big match at the bottom, where 23rd-placed Grimsby host 22nd-placed Stevenage.
Beyond these shores Real Madrid play Levante in a 3.15pm GMT kick-off, and, um, it’s second against third in South Africa’s PSL as Swallows head to SuperSport United!
Here, then, is your big list of Saturday fixtures, all 3pm GMT kick-offs unless stated:
Premier League
Arsenal v Manchester United (5.30pm)
