Manchester City U18s thrash Newcastle 13-0 to celebrate winning title

Manchester City Under-18s scored THIRTEEN goals against Newcastle United as the youngsters celebrated being champions on Saturday.

City had already secured the Premier League North title after second-place Liverpool lost to Nottingham Forest in midweek. The City team have lost just three matches all season while bottom club Newcastle have won just three.

William Dickson and Nico O’Reilly netted hat-tricks for the hosts on Saturday afternoon while Carlos Borges and Josh Adam both grabbed braces. Kian Breckin, Adedire Mebude and Matthew Whittingham all also got on the scoresheet in the rout.

Title celebrations took place after the final whistle. It’s a second crown in a row for the teenagers, who will go on to face either Premier League South title contenders Southampton or West Ham in the national final for the ultimate prize.

Lead coach Ben Wilkinson’s side still have Burnley and Sunderland left to play before the big outing, which is set to take place at a ‘main stadium’ in a number of weeks’ time. They will be going for their third title since the rebranding of the Under-18 Premier League system, having also lifted the trophy in 2015/16.

The double-figures thrashing of Newcastle comes after the Under-23s thumped seven past Everton on Friday evening .
