Manchester City have completed the signing of full-back Joao Cancelo from Juventus, with Danilo moving in the opposite direction.
City will also pay a €30m (£27.6m) fee for the Portugal international, who has signed a six-year contract at the Etihad.
Cancelo dined at a Manchester restaurant last night with Pep Guardiola, director of football Txiki Begiritstain and his new club team-mate Bernardo Silva among the guests.
The 25-year-old has been a summer-long target for Guardiola, who sought competition for Kyle Walker at right-back.
Danilo’s desire for more first-team opportunities, meanwhile, meant City wished to move the the Brazil international on before signing Cancelo.
Juventus were not interested in a player-exchange deal earlier this summer, though their position changed over the past few weeks.
Cancelo only joined the Serie A champions from Valencia last summer, making 34 appearances under former head coach Massimiliano Allegri.
Juventus would have been reluctant to sell Cancelo if not for their need to raise funds after a summer of heavy spending in Turin.
Cancelo becomes City's third signing of the summer following the £62m capture of holding midfielder Rodri from Atletico Madrid and the return of Angelino, a £5.3m re-signed from PSV Eindhoven.
City are not expected to conclude any further incomings before Thursday's deadline though Leroy Sané's remains uncertain, with interest in the winger from Bayern Munich.
Sané will be able to leave City at any time before 31 August, when the transfer window in Germany closes.
