Manchester City told to sign Hakim Ziyech before today's deadline

Former Liverpool star John Barnes has backed Manchester City to make a late move and sign Hakim Ziyech.

Barnes believes the Ajax forward would be a welcome addition to the Premier League, after impressing in his side's run to the semi-finals of last year's Champions League.

Ziyech has been strongly linked with German giants Bayern Munich, but the former winger, speaking to bonuscodebets , believes City and other Premier League clubs should be making their move.

“I think (Hakim) Ziyech, the Moroccan at Ajax would be a great signing for the Premier League,” Barnes said.

“I think he could do very well here.

“He’s plays a similar role to (Riyad) Mahrez, but I think he works harder defensively. I enjoy watching him.

“He could go to Man City or Arsenal and fit them, I think Liverpool are a bit different. But he could fit into any team that wants to play with the ball, in possession and move the ball quickly.

“A lot of teams do that in the Premier League. Leicester do it under Brendan Rodgers so that could be a good team for him.”
