Manchester City team news: Pep Guardiola reveals Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne will both miss Chelsea clash

Pep Guardiola has revealed that both Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne will be unavailable for Manchester City‘s Premier League clash against Chelsea on Saturday.

Aguero, who has scored 10 goals in 16 appearances this season, suffered an abductor injury in training on Monday which ruled him out of City's win over Watford on Tuesday. Aguero had already been rested for the champion’s victory against Bournemouth last weekend due to muscle fatigue.

De Bruyne, who scored the winner at Stamford Bridge last season, has been out for five weeks after suffering a third injury to his knee ligaments in as many years during City’s Carabao Cup win against Fulham.

Guardiola made the announcement ahead of the trip to London on Saturday, where City are seeking to extend their lead at the top of the table against Maurizio Sarri’s wilting side, who have lost two of their last three league matches.

“Both cannot play. Both will be back soon,” Guardiola said.

“Always Stamford Bridge is difficult. I have travelled there many times as a manager and won once – last season. Most times I lose there.”
