Manchester City team news: Gabriel Jesus and John Stones return, Fabian Delph frozen out

Gabriel Jesus and John Stones are back in contention for Manchester City though Fabian Delph will not be part of the squad for Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth.

Jesus and Stones missed City’s last three games against Schalke 04, Chelsea and West Ham with hamstring and groin injuries respectively.

The pair have returned to training in Manchester and could provide respite for Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany.

“Gabriel is back,” said Pep Guardiola, when asked whether Sergio Aguero could be rested up at Bournemouth. “Raheem [Sterling] can play there too of course.”

“John is coming back too, like Gabriel. And we will see tomorrow what is the best, how tired they are, how their physical condition is. We will decide.”

Delph, meanwhile, has been used sparingly since his sending off in the defeat to Leicester City on Boxing Day.

Guardiola confirmed that the 29-year-old has recovered from a recent ankle injury but said he would not be involved at the Vitality Stadium.

“He was injured but today he made the first training session with us. He’s not in the squad but he can play.”

City remain without centre-half Aymeric Laporte and Fernandinho, who are both struggling with muscle injuries.

The pair are only likely to return after the March international break.
