Manchester City supporters spot Kalidou Koulibaly mistake during Ruben Dias announcement

Manchester City confirmed the arrival of Ruben Dias last night but eagled-eyes supporters believe Kalidou Koulibaly could also be on his way to the Etihad Stadium.

The Portuguese defender has penned a long-term contract with Manchester City in a deal worth £65.2million.

It ends Pep Guardiola's summer-long search for a right-sided centre-back to partner Aymeric Laporte or Nathan Ake, with the latter arriving from Bournemouth early in the window.

Koulibaly had been City's first-choice option, MEN Sport understands, but negotiations over the defender's transfer stalled with Napoli.

After conceding five goals against Leicester City, City's search for a new defender intensified and Dias flew into Manchester on Monday to complete the formalities of his deal which was announced late on Tuesday.

City fans were sent into a frenzy when reading City's announcement of the Portuguese defender, noticing an error regarding Koulibaly in the body of text.

The club's story confirmed that Dias would wear the number three shirt for the season ahead and included a link at the bottom, urging City fans to ask 'new signing' Koulibaly a question.

The link was quickly deleted once the blunder had been spotted but not before the mistake had been extensively shared on social media.

Dias could make his debut for the club this weekend when City travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United.
