Manchester City have announced the signing of the Colombia forward Marlos Moreno from Atlético Nacional on a five-year deal.

Moreno’s arrival, believed to be for a fee of around £4.75m, follows those of Leroy Sané and Gabriel Jesus, whose deals have been concluded this week, although the 19-year-old has been immediately loaned to La Liga side Deportivo La Coruña until the end of the season.

Moreno came through the youth system at Atlético and has earned seven caps for Colombia.

Moreno told the club’s official website: “Pep Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world. I think he likes young players very much and he can improve young players tactically and technically. It will be great to work with him and to be part of a great team.”

City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, said: “Marlos is an excellent prospect who has already broken into his national team. He’s a versatile player, still learning, but we believe he has a fantastic future in the game and with City.”

His signing continues a busy summer at City following the appointment of Pep Guardiola as manager. Ilkay Gundogan, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Nolito have also joined City with around £100m having been spent reinvigorating the first-team squad.
