Enes Unal, the highly rated 18-year-old signed this month by Manchester City from Bursaspor, is set to be loaned to Genk.
The Turkish forward was part of City’s touring squad and featured in the 1-0 win over Melbourne City on 18 July and in the 2-2 draw against Roma in Melbourne three days later.
He played 48 minutes in total but Manuel Pellegrini believes Unal’s development will be better aided by having more regular football, which would likely be the case at the Belgian club.
Sergio Agüero, Martin Demichelis, Pablo Zabaleta and Fernandinho are back training with City following their respective breaks after playing in the Copa América.
Fabian Delph’s hamstring injury means he could miss the first game of the season, City’s Monday night trip to West Bromwich Albion on 10 August.
