Manchester City 'set to beat Man Utd to Harry Maguire signing'

Harry Maguire would prefer to move to Manchester City over rivals Manchester United, a report says.

Both Manchester clubs are looking for a central defender this summer, with City searching for a Vincent Kompany replacement and United wanting to add quality to a side that finished sixth in the Premier League.

And Maguire has emerged as a possible target for both clubs, even though Leicester are likely to demand a record fee for a defender for Maguire.

Now, the Daily Mail claim the England international would prefer a move to the Etihad over a move to Old Trafford, giving City an edge in their hopes of signing him.

Matthijs de Ligt has been tentatively linked with City, but Maguire may now be a more achievable target if the report has any truth to it.

The pair go head to head in the Nations League semi-final on Thursday, with City sure to be watching on with interest.

Meanwhile, City are reportedly in talks with Juventus over a £44m deal for Joao Cancelo.

The full back has been mentioned as a possible target for City, and now Goal say the two clubs have opened negotiations to put a framework of a deal in place.

City are also planning to sell Danilo, with Inter Milan thought to be his likely destination.

The report says Juventus are considering replacements for Cancelo, and Danilo is an option but the deal is only being discussed as a cash transfer for the time being.
