Manchester City send Liverpool special Premier League title message

Manchester City have extended their congratulations to Liverpool after the Reds claimed a maiden Premier League title.

Jurgen Klopp's side were handed their crown after Pep Guardiola's outfit were defeated by Chelsea on Thursday night.

The London Blues ran out 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Christian Pulisic and a late penalty from Willian.

Kevin de Bruyne scored a stunning free-kick to level the clash at 1-1 but Frank Lampard's side were triumphant at Stamford Bridge.

Following the confirmation that Liverpool were champions of England, Man City took to social media to congratulate the Reds on their long-awaited success.

The club's official Twitter account shared a message of congratulations with the Reds.

They wrote: "Congratulations to @LFC on winning the Premier League."

The short and sweet message has, at the time of publication, been retweeted over 24,000 times and is proving popular with Liverpool fans.

Guardiola's men had won the title in the past two seasons - but they were unable to reclaim their crown for the 2019/20 season.
