Manchester City’s offer of two seats for the price of one has sold out the Etihad Stadium for Wednesday evening’s vital Champions League encounter with CSKA Moscow.

In City’s previous home match in the competition, September’s 1-1 draw with Roma, the club failed to sell out the stadium, with a crowd of only 37,509 in the 46,708 capacity ground.

As the Russian champions are not allowed any fans due to Uefa sanctions for their indiscipline including racist offences, City have moved to ensure they have as much support as possible.

If Manuel Pellegrini’s team fail to win, their hopes of progressing to the knockout stage will be remote. They are currently third in Group E with two points from their opening three games.
