Manchester City's Pep Guardiola sends message ahead of crucial Premier League showdown with United

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has admitted Old Trafford doesn't instil fear in opposition sides anymore.

Manchester United dominated English football for over two decades, winning an unprecedented thirteen Premier League titles under Sir Alex Ferguson.

United's home stadium was a difficult and daunting place for teams to play, but Guardiola believes those days are gone.

Speaking ahead of City's crucial clash with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side on Wednesday evening, the Spaniard revealed: "It’s important that the club is structured well, like here.

"But I won’t comment on what happens at United. This club in the last decade grew a lot.

"It’s not scary anymore to go to Old Trafford but we have to play at our best."

Victory would see Guardiola's men go one point clear of title rivals Liverpool.

"Four games left and we have to win our four games to retain the title.

"It is not an easy place to go but at the same time, it is a nice place to go. We know exactly what we have to do," Guardiola added.

Jurgen Klopp's team will face Huddersfield in a Friday night meeting at Anfield.

Despite Everton's 4-0 destruction of Solskjaer's team, the 48-year-old will not take them for granted.

Guardiola admitted: "I expect the best United tomorrow, I am sure. They are proud.

"(We) prepare (for) the game as always, their strong points, their weak points and try to win the game."

Belgian midfielder Kevin de Bruyne will be a big loss for City as the 27-year-old is set to be sidelined through injury.

The former Barcelona coach said: "It’s a muscular problem. We see day by day but he is not available tomorrow."
