Manchester City's Nathan Ake praises Erling Haaland and Pep Guardiola

Manchester City's Nathan Ake has labelled new teammate Erling Haaland a 'deadly weapon' and has heaped praise on his manager Pep Guardiola.

Ake put in a fine performance as he kept a clean sheet alongside Ruben Dias at centre-back as City got their season off to a perfect start with a 2-0 win against West Ham. At the other end of the pitch, Haaland was the match-winner as he netted a brace on his Premier League debut.

Guardiola had evidently been working out the best strategy for the game for some time and the 27-year-old hailed his manager as one of the world's best coaches.

Talking to Sky Sports, Ake said: "No, never, never [have I known a coach more tactically demanding]. He's for sure the best for me in that aspect. What he does tactically, how we prepares the game on the pitch, in training - it's something else."

Ake went on to discuss just how good Haaland is and how the club can get the best out of him.

He said: "It comes with time [getting the most out of him]. What we do on the training pitch, the more he knows the way the team plays, and we know the way he plays - I think that will come over time. But you can see already what kind of striker he is.

"He's deadly in front of goal, he can also play short to feet, but also in behind. I think we have an extra weapon now with his pace and power, he's a great addition.

"He's tough [to defend against]. He's so strong, fast, powerful. When you go tight, he runs in behind because he's quick. When you give him too much space, he can come in to feet. He's a deadly weapon for us because he's got it all really."
