Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne can still spoil one Liverpool party this season

Liverpool have taken the Premier League by storm this season, and they will be hoping that continues from this weekend.

The Reds’ campaign resumes on Sunday away to Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park, with Jurgen Klopp’s side needing just six more points to guarantee that the trophy heads to Anfield.

Many players have put themselves into contention for legendary status with their performances over the past two seasons.

Last season’s triumph in the Champions League, combined with the Premier League title, should the Reds complete the job, will put this team among the best in the club’s history.

Players like Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson and Virgil van Dijk have put their names into contention for the Premier League’s PFA Player of the Year award, which is still to be handed out due to the three-month suspension to the season.

But one Manchester City player may spoil the party in that regard.

Kevin De Bruyne, who has been one of the League’s most consistent performers in recent seasons, has catapulted up the list to be among the favourites to scoop the PFA accolade.

His goal and assist in Wednesday night’s 3-0 win over Arsenal has placed him third in the betting to win the award this season.

Mane remains the favourite, while Henderson is not too far behind in second, and nobody would have any complaints if either of those two were to be named the league’s best player this term.

The Reds are 22 points clear of Man City at the top of the table but this is one area where they could spoil Liverpool’s party.
