David Silva is back in light training for Manchester City following a knee injury and is hopeful of returning for the Champions League match against Bayern Munich at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.
The Spaniard, who suffered the problem in City’s defeat by Newcastle United at last month, has less chance of being available for the home match against Swansea City on Saturday.
However, given the 28-year-old playmaker’s importance to the team, the manager, Manuel Pellegrini, will be hoping Silva does not suffer a setback before the match against the German champions.
City are bottom of Group E with two points and must defeat Bayern and Roma in their final match and hope other results go their way if they are to qualify for the knockout stage.
Vincent Kompany, who injured a calf while on duty for Belgium, is also hopeful of being fit to face Bayern, with Swansea’s visit potentially too early for the captain.
