Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte feels Spain’s UEFA Nations League defeat to France did not reflect the 90 minutes.
Spain took the lead midway through the second half when Mikel Oyarzabal finished past Hugo Lloris.
But Karim Benzema quickly hit back before Kylian Mbappe scored a very controversial goal to condemn Spain to defeat.
It was a second successive comeback win for Didier Deschamps’ side after their thrilling 3-2 semi-final success against Belgium.
Luis Enrique’s side dominated possession but both sides had the same amount of shots on goal, 12, and France had one more on target over the 90 minutes.
However, Spain’s French-born defender Laporte believes that his side played the better football over the course of the game.
"It was a difficult defeat," said Laporte. "We have proven to be a great team despite our youth, we have shown better football than them, but what counts is the result."
Laporte opted to represent Spain despite representing Spain at youth levels.
Sunday's tie was the first time he had come up against France since switching in March.
