Manchester City 'remain interested in Ben Chilwell transfer' despite Angelino return

Any move Manchester City make for former defender Angelino will not affect their interest in Ben Chilwell, according to reports.

City are set to trigger Angelino's release clause after the left-back departed last summer, and he will return from PSV Eindhoven to provide cover for Aleks Zinchenko and Benjamin Mendy.

But Pep Guardiola remains interested in Chilwell, according to Goal, and had been planning to launch a bid for the England international until calling it off at the end of April.

Now, the report says City plan to re-visit their interest in Chilwell in the next transfer window in January, providing he does not leave for another club before then.

Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have been linked with signing Chilwell, but Leicester will hold firm for their player as they are doing with Harry Maguire.

Meanwhile, City have agreed a two-year contract extension with Kyle Walker, reports suggest.

Walker is expected to put pen to paper on a new deal that will see him stay at the Etihad until 2024, but the Evening Standard claim the contract has been agreed.

The deal will apparently be worth up to £180,000-per-week once bonuses are activated, and the report says it will be announced this week.

City are chasing Joao Cancelo, but the new deal is not said to affect that transaction, with Guardiola planning to have both Walker and Cancelo battle for a first team spot. Danilo is expected to depart this summer.
